Curve balls

Life throws us curve balls when we least expect it.

Just when we think we have everything figured out, we get dealt a big dose of reality to remind us that life isn’t easy.

A lot of shit happens that we can’t control or change.

As much as you plan, something is bound to happen that will turn your plan upside down.

The funny thing is, even though we know that a lot of happenings are out of our control, we still scramble to get a firm grasp — we still look back and think maybe if I had planned better or done something differently the outcome would have been better.

What I’m learning is that we can plan and predict what our life will look like in days, weeks or years to come — but the chance that our plans end up coming to fruition are about 50/50.

I’m learning to live and let live; to roll with the punches and embrace the constantly changing circumstances surrounding me.

I’m adjusting my perspective and finding opportunity and joy in the curve balls thrown my way — opportunity to make a difference and change my behaviors, and joy from knowing and understanding that I have the strength to deal with and overcome anything.

Sure, some curve balls will hit harder than others and take a longer time to bounce back from — but at the end of the day, isn’t that what life is about?

Falling down and mustering the strength to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move forward with greater confidence and strength than you had before?
