How Twitter has Transformed as a Social Media Platform

Have you noticed that Twitter has transformed as a social media platform?

Twitter, the first social media channel that I joined, is very different today than it was 10 years ago.

The changes on Twitter have been tremendous.

In fact, all of the social media channels have evolved over the last 10 years.

Twitter, the first social media channel to introduce hashtags, is now a platform that is dominated by news, sports and politics.

It’s no longer the best place for small business.

In fact, I think that small businesses are way better off spending their limited resources on Instagram and Facebook.

Falling in love with social media:

I remember that Twitter was the first social media network that I joined.

When I first joined, I jumped all in. I loved the fact that there was this channel that allowed me to connect with people across the world.

I truly have Twitter to thank for my love of social media.

Through using Twitter, I saw the power that these platforms had in creating a connection.

It was that experience that led me to want to create a career in this industry.

How Twitter has transformed:

Social media is an incredibly powerful way to create a connection with another person.

And the thing about social media is that it moves fast.

All of the platforms that we’ve come to know and love (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Periscope, etc) have been evolving since the second they were created.

It’s the nature of the industry; things move fast.

This means that as the individual using these platforms, you have to stay in the know on what channels make the most sense given your goals.

For small business owners, I no longer think Twitter makes sense.

Do I think you should have a presence on Twitter? Absolutely.

The reason being is that Twitter seems to be the platform that the majority of people go to when they want to complain.

So, from a public relations standpoint, you do need to have a Twitter presence so that you can respond if people are tweeting about you in any context – be it positive or negative.

However, it doesn’t make sense to invest a lot of time or effort into the platform from a content creation standpoint.

Twitter has transformed to being a social media platform that is best suited for sports, politics, and news.

As a small business owner, you have to find the platform that makes the most sense for you.

That’s why I spend most of my time on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
