Practicing patience

Day 2 of the 30-Day Bravery Challenge was about stopping – stopping a habit or a tendency that’s getting in your way.

“what’s something that might be getting in the way of what you want to build in the world? Maybe it’s watching TV…Maybe it’s a just a negative thought or belief that you tell yourself,” said Greg in his email.

I thought for a second about a habit, or narrative, that’s holding me back from greatness.

It was a no-brainer, perfectionism. I have a hard time thinking my work is good enough to “ship” and that prevents me from being brave… from putting my work out into the world.

While reflecting, I realized that I also want to let go of my tendency to rush; I’m trying to practice patience.

It’s not easy for those of us with a tendency to constantly be moving, but it’s so important, and something I know I can improve on.

Part of this Bravery Challenge is about making ourselves uncomfortable by facing our fears and our weaknesses head-on.

The great thing about it is that Greg has already succeeded in creating a community that’s supportive and optimistic.

It’s easier to face your fears when you know you have people cheering you on.
